We’re delighted to share the news that our beautiful hyperreality opera Current, Rising has won best out-of-home VR entertainment at the 2021 International VR Awards.
Current, Rising invited audiences to step into an imagined universe epic, dream-like world enveloped by the music an epic opera score. You can get a flavour of the experience:
To create this multi-sensory, immersive opera, we combined the strengths and working methods of an all-female team of opera and immersive theatre creatives with the tech and creative expertise of Figment Productions.
The project was inspired by a visit to The Void’s Star Wars experience in a London shopping mall. This hyperreal format immediately felt like an inherently operatic medium, with the potential to create shared emotional experiences while also placing the audience at the centre of the performance.
